COMMUNICATION GOALS
What exactly should we communicate – that climate change is happening and it’s dangerous for us? No. We have already tried that, and it didn’t work. We are approaching this issue differently.
Thanks to the workshops with expets accompanying the “Humans Attack!” project, we know that as societies we must change our behavior immediately. We have identified three priority areas:
- Energy – moving away from fossil fuels, investing in the development of alternative energy sources, reducing energy intensity.
- Transport – introducing taxation on emission-producing means of transport while developing cheap and accessible public transport.
- Food – minimising the effects of climate-damaging production (including changing the proportion of meat in the diet). Developing agriculture based on planet-friendly products: easily accessible and local.
In the context of mandatory ESG reporting for many companies, the latest edition of “Humans Attack!” provides some interesting data. Only 15% of employees are completely certain that their employer is taking action to protect the environment. Of those who do not notice such actions, more than half believe that they should be taken by the organization they work for. Employees have therefore expressed a clear need for a fourth area to be created:
- Employees – explaining the meaning and purpose of their employers’ pro-environmental activities.
Communication guides are therefore being developed for the four areas above to help engage people in climate change mitigation or adaptation actions.
For each of these areas, we need to identify specific actions that may “happen” to us in the coming years. We outline these actions, target groups, possible barriers, and benefits through a series of interviews with experts.
